Taking what you think is the perfect photo - only to realise later on that it's blurred is so frustrating. Eliminating camera shake is vital when it comes to taking sharp, in focus photos.
In bright sunlight - or well lit situations the camera will be using a fairly high shutter speed and you can be less concerned about holding the camera rock steady. But in less favourable conditions - such as cloudy, evening or indoor shots, you will need to give more thought to keeping the camera still.
Here are some easy to remember tips for holding the camera steady:
Brace the camera against your face (applies to cameras with a viewfinder only) and just before you press the shutter button, inhale deeply, exhale and then hold your breath while pressing the shutter button.
Use a readily available support to steady yourself against - a wall to lean against, a railing or something sturdy.
If your camera has a self timer function, place the camera on a suitable surface, compose your photo and then activate the self timer function. This will mean you won't have to press the shutter button to take the photo, meaning you won't be moving the camera at the critical point.
Use a tripod. This is not always ideal due to space and not wanting to carry one round with you(!), but tripods can come in all shapes and sizes and can mean the difference between getting a great shot and getting a blurred one.
We hope you'll find these useful and we look forward to creating your next life poster with your super sharp photos!
